How To be Focused : a Simple Habit For a Successful life.

 The best way to encounter the strength of your effort is to get it to be focused.
When I was small there was a small glass we use in playing. It is transparent. When the sun rises we let the rays incident on this glass surface_ what this glass does is to channel the sun's energy, as much as it can gather to one place .

Beneath the glass, you will see a beam of light_ The position of this beam can be changed by simply changing the position of this glass.

One thing amazing about this illustration, is that that beam can make a plastic, nylon, or other similar fible materials to begin melting down when once it is being shifted close to it. But left alone, it's had for the sun to melt down such materials.
What do you think that makes this materials to burn?
They burn not because they have any special ingredients in them, but rather because this glass was able to channel the solar energy into one place.

Instead of the sun's energy to be scattered, it helps to bring them at one place. And you know that the sun has energy. So the only power this glass has is 'focus. It attracts different rays of the sunlight and forms a beam with them by focusing them at a point.

I will tell you the secret behind success. And the one thing that separates highly successful people from the majority of the world's population who manages to survive.
The difference is 'focus. Focus is the one quality you must develop to achieve success or anything worthwhile.
When Andrew Carnegie talked about the secret of success he said you must "put all your eggs in one basket and then watch them carefully".
Focus comes in two major forms :

1. Mind focus.

We literally receive hundreds of thoughts in a day, which ranges from thoughts about what we do everyday and needs everyday to thoughts of what we fear or hope for_ or perhaps thoughts of new unadulterated ideas.Within those range of thoughts are contained thought of what we do want and thought of those we do not want. This is where the ability to choose plays an important role_ all you have to do is to choose those thoughts that leads to your goal. Then avoid those ones that are negative and are detrimental to a successful happy living.

Examples of negative thoughts to avoid are: envy, jealousy, arrogance, hopelessness, anxiety or fear , lust, selfishness, vengeance, greed, and laziness. They are poisons that are taken little by little.
So how do you go about avoiding these emotions, it is simple, when they come up simply shift your mind from them to positive ones, don't try to consider them or even fight them. Just think another thing positive , more often in case of fear, you can provide time to deal with it. Focus on the task at hand and if they persist on coming up on your mind, just say the opposite and let it go. Like for instance, when the thought of envy comes to your mind_ perhaps thought about a person who is always winning you, just throw it over and say things like, well even though this person beats me, he still gives me the opportunity to compete. And not everyone has the opportunity. And by thinking like this, you simply move your self from the negative plane of thought to the positive.
Other emotions you can practice to help you replace negative thoughts/emotions in your life, these are thoughts you need to encourage and entertain each time they pop up in your mind or each time you want to replace the negatives. Emotions such as: Love, perseverance , industry,friendship, frugality, loyalty, courage, trust, joy, good humour, enthusiasm, peace, serenity, patience, tolerance, harmony, and responsibility.
Thinking positive thoughts helps our mind to look up for possibilities and that's why highly successful people try as much as they could to stay positive. When you ask people like Carlos Slim the secret of success, he tell its practising positive emotions, also ask Warren Buffett, he will recommend you give unconditional love. Let me tell you what Jack Canfield said about successful people:
Successful people maintain a positive focus in life no matter what is going on around them. They stay focused on their past successes rather than their past failures, and on the next action steps they need to take to get them closer to the fulfillment of their goals rather than all the other distractions that life presents to them.
Thoughts do pop up like email messages in your inbox, but you have to decide which email to read from, and this you can do by reading the title they come with. When a new thought comes up, you will recognise it in your mind , then you have to check if you need to think it through or not.

2. Activities focus:

Newton's second law of motion states that action is equal to reaction. This law governs almost every aspect of life. Not just in science but in productivity.
You are not what you say you will do, but what you are doing right now. All your actions should be guided by a purpose_ first, you begin by asking this question :
will my present actions lead to my goals?
Will others benefit from it? Isn't there any better alternative?
When you answer to these questions are 'yes, in regards to any of your actions ,go ahead. Do it.
But when your reply is' no, it is time to retreat. Watch your steps and do the right thing.
Another important factor in this section is trying to catch all birds that flies over your head, when you try to achieve many things that most often are irrelevant to your goals you end up achieving nothing. You want to pass exams yet you want to play games, it won't work. As Warren Buffett said, "The difference between successful people and highly successful people is that highly successful people say no to almost every thing." So don't try to achieve too many things, or engage in every activity that catches your eye_ have the courage to say 'No. Be picky in action.
Do very few things that leads to your goal and do them well. A classmate one time said to me, " I only buy what I need". Well, I took that as an advise. From that moment onwards I have only bought what I needed. It have been saving me a lot of money. So only pick those activities that will contribute more to your life_ then give them all the energy it requires. As Swanni Vivekanda said, " Take up one idea. Make that idea your life . Think of it, dream of it, live on that idea. Let every part of your body be full of that idea, and just leave every other idea alone. This is the secret of success. "

Another point to realise is that the opposite of being focused is drifting. Drifters rarely get what they want. They are like vehicles that rides with their back. They either moves so slow or moves fast to the wrong direction. As Brian Tracy the author of "maximum achievement", candour "you can't hit the target you cannot see." You must have something you are going after and then engage in the right thoughts and actions.
I will remind you on another point on the story of when I was growing up that we talked about initially, when the light from the sun incidents directly on any of those rubber or plastic materials it cannot get them burnt because the energy is not concentrated. The same goes with our lives. You need to concentrate your energy on few things, those that lead to your goal. If you are working, give it what is required, don't play while working. When you are at the office doing your job, you are working not having fun_ so work and give it all.
Are you a student? An employee, an entrepreneur? Put your ass down and read, do your work do something right,stop procrastinating and drifting, putting your responsibility off will create bigger works for the future and will hamper productivity.
The first step to a successful and focused life is to decide what you want in every area of you life. If you have not done this by now, choose a quiet time, pick a notebook and write down every thing you want in every area of your life, you health, finances, family and future enjoyment. Then make an action plan plan, making sure that every step is headed in that direction. You can simply search on the Internet to know how to achieve any of those goals.

Questions to determine how focused you are in your life at this point.

  1. Have I an objective, a goal that I'm going after?
  2. Have I attained the goal that I have established for myself this year? (you should work with a definite yearly goal to attain as part of your life goal.)
  3. Have I resisted the habit of procrastination to decrease my efficiency?
  4. have I been persistent in following my plan to completions?
  5. Have I wasted time or energy due to lack of focus?

If your answer to each of these questions is 'YES', then you are a focused individual and the sky is your spring_board. But if you answer is 'No, it's time to try and change your ways, life is not a practice arena where after making mistakes you can learn and go on to the main stage to perform well, every minute is your precious life passing away. One thing happens when you start setting goals and getting focused _ you become an achiever, a doer and not just a talker.
Sticking to my purpose has made this post a reality for when Gandhi was asked to tell a boy to stop eating sugar buy the boys mother probably because he was overweight, Gandhi told the to give him(Gandhi) some time to stop the habit himself before he can tell the boy to do same. Being focused is a good attribute we can easily develop through practice.

5 Sure-fire steps to Overcome Fear and Anxiety Today

Are you afraid of speaking in public?

Shy to talk to the next guy beside you?

Or even ask someone out for a date.
You know you want to do these things but you keep loosing courage due to fear of embarrassment or rather fear of what people may think.
 I have been there. And truth be told, it's a horrible place to be.

There's a great difference between avoiding realities, and running in the darkness of fear. Fear is false evidence appearing real. It's an additional believes we attach to our expectations and to reality as to why things will not work out.

Those who fear things forget that to attempt the feared thing most often (when it is the moral thing to do) is an end to fear, what a blessing to experience that which one so much dread. To encounter the feared thing is a blessing. And when this happens, when we finally meet with what we feared so much there will be nothing to be feared anymore. Always do the right thing and enjoy meeting with fear. Because courage and confidence begins in meeting with fear.

Doing it anyway
Is the key step towards overcoming fear.
 The technique below has worked so well for me in many ways, When I had a chance to meet and talk to people when I was younger, it was quite a cumbersome task but I still go ahead and do it anyway. As I learnt about this technique, I realised it was the same thing that has helped me all these years overcoming my fears,especially the fear of speaking and meeting new people.
 I may not be the most social person in the world but this technique has made me one of them. So when next you are tied to a hook from doing the things you deep-down know is right and most often things that will fulfil you then follow the following steps, they are simple but they work like magic.

Use the AWARE technique to Overcome Fear at any point.

A _Accept the fear/anxiety. So instead of trying to outsmart your emotions, by switching your mind to other thoughts or doing any other thing like trying to deny that you are afraid. Accept, accept that you are afraid. Accepting that you are afraid doesn't mean that you are submitting to the fear or the feared thing. But it do mean that you are submitting to your inner strength. And when you submit to the inner side of your being through acceptance,the brain which is most efficient when we are afraid will start giving you options to tackle the problem or the present fear. But at this point we have to be careful not to choose the wrong answer because when you accept that you are afraid the next thing your brain does is to trigger the fight and flight hormones which are natural tools for taking action in the time of danger. And making the wrong choice at this point could be very hazardous. So follow the next (A.W.R.E) step.

W Watch Your Fear. At this stage, if you are careful, not allowing the fear and flight urge to control you, you will see the 'devil in the detail ,'how this evil deals with you. It could come up as an image or a block of voice in your head. Hear it. See it. Feel it. But don't let it consume you. If you are really careful and the circumstance allows you to write, just note it down on a paper. Do you have more time, try to find out in your mind if it is really a true evidence.

A _Act Normally. Act as you would normally act had it been you were not afraid. What will you do if you knew it was impossible to fail. Imagine you had no limitations at all. That everything was just fine, how would you act? Assuming you were shy or overruled by anxiety before this step, and deep within you you know what a confident, bold and carefree person would do, do the same.

R _Repeat the above steps. While trying to 'act as if,' From experience, I notice that the same fear would naturally pop up again. Which will make you want to run into your skin like the initial time. All you need to do is to repeat the above steps, which is, accept the anxiety, watch the anxiety and then act normally. . Keeping doing this as often as the fear comes up.

E _Expect the best. So what else should you do when you acts normally, you expect the best. The truth about expectation is that whatever you expects or believes with confidence most often becomes your reality or self fulfilling prophecy. So expect to be successful. If you asking someone for a date, giving a speech or making a presentation, when you have followed the above steps just expect to be successful. Keep an eye for the best. Expect that people will always say yes when you ask them out. Expect claps when you are done with your speech and so on.
Fear can hold you back from achieving and attaining your life goes and can stand in the way of your happiness, health and wellbeing. By overcoming fear, you can be able to go after your goals, do the things you want to do and be the person you desires to be. Living without fear gives you freedom.

There are two secrets to achieving success, one is luck and the other is skill. Being productive is one of those skills necessary for success.

Truth be told, there are too many things to do in a day for many of us who wants to achieve more. Being productive is not just getting the work done, but getting it well done. I ones thought about what was the difference between highly successful people and the unsuccessful people, I realised that it was a simple word, "Value".

Highly successful people give more value and so they are more rewarded. Wealth in this definition is the value you are able to render, not effort. You might use the effort of a whole life time to execute a project, but if no one is willing to pay for your effort, it is less valuable. So what makes you more successful and productive is your ability to do more with less time, or achieve better with equal time. I'm sure you can relate.

It is not always easy to get everything perfect, but many people through planning and continues effort have found ways to get more things done and save more precious time for things that are important. Most of these discoveries are among the list I have made below including my own discoveries that helps me get the job done. So below are 17 great tips on how to become more productive.

17 things highly productive people do differently

  1. They focus only on one thing at a time. Productive people acknowledge their Most Important Task [MIT] and work on it for one to two hours each morning, without interruptions. Tom Ziglar,The CEO at Ziglar Inc., advised you should , “Invest the first part of your day working on your number one priority that will help build your business.” And generally,I will add that it must not only be business, it could be any other vocational activity or even for your personal life, activities like exercise, making essential arrangements and confirmation could be critical factors.____What task will have the biggest impact on attaining your goal? What accomplishment will get you promoted at work? What activities are you sure that if you repeatedly do them everyday will have the most significant impact on your life? Do it. And mostly try to do them at your waking hours.
  2. They don't always use to-do lists. Keep away your to-do list; instead schedule everything on your calendar. It turns out only 40% of items on to-do lists are ever actually done. And all those undone items lead to stress and insomnia because of the Zeigarnik effect. Highly productive people put everything on their calendar and then work and live from that calendar. “Use a calendar and schedule your entire day into 15-minute blocks. It sounds like a pain, but this will set you up in the 95th percentile…”, advises the cofounder of The Art of Charm, Jordan Harbinger. But if eventually it falls that you must use a to do list, then add time to it. You may say by 8:00 AM, I will be going to do a particular job and when I finish it by 12:30,i will do another thing. Assigning time to your activities is similar to using calendar. But the only time to use a to-do-list is when you daily routines has to change from what they use to be. Or you are the type that forget easily. What I do is that I check in my daily activities and then assign an alarm to those important activities that I can easily forget or that are emergencies.
  3. They beat procrastination with time travel. Your future self can’t be trusted. You can't hit the target you don't see. That’s because we are “time inconsistent.” We buy veggies today because we think we’ll eat healthy salads all week; then we throw out green rotting mush in the future. Someone bought P90x because they thought they are going to start exercising vigorously and yet the box sits unopened one year later. What can you do now to make sure your future self does the right thing? Anticipate how you will self-sabotage in the future or make errs , and come up with a solution to defeat your future self. A quote I ones read said, "expect problems and eat them like breakfast. So what you need to do is to look into the future and imagine all the worst case scenario that will probably befall you or your business and make sure it doesn't happen and even if they happen what will be the next wise action to beat such situation.
  4. They use a notebook. Ideas keep coming like the wave, you never can tell when they might pop up, so having a notebook can help you jut them down. Why do you think we go to seminars with jutter or notes? Our mind even as efficient as it is, can easily forget, so noting things down for reminders can be helpful towards boosting your overall productivity at work and personal life.
  5. They process email only a few times a day. Ultra-productive people don’t always check their email throughout the day. They don’t respond to each vibration or ding to see who has inboxed them. Instead, like everything else they do, they schedule time to process their email quickly, depending on the number of emails they receive.   8. They say “no” to almost everything. Yes, they say no" a lot. Remembering how limited your time is, this will help you say no to most of those time consuming activities. Warren Buffet, CEO Berkshire H. once said, “The difference between successful people and very successful people is that very successful people say ‘no’ to almost everything. you only have 1,440 minutes in every day. Don’t give them away easily. Say no to many stuffs and activities that doesn't necessitate your goals and purpose, every other thing have to wait till after the major things are done and if you check it from the productive persons point of view, nothing else is worth your time except those unavailable essentials. Every other avoidable has to be put to the rare and most often, avoided.
  9. They follow the 80/20 rule. This rule is also Known as the Pareto Principle, the rule states that in most cases in life situations and at jobs 80% of results comes from only 20% of activities. And result is everything. Highly productive people know which activities drive the greatest results, and focus on those and ignore the rest. So you just check those of your activities that you know that if you do them extremely well will produce major of your results, then engage more on those activities.
  10. They delegate almost everything. Expecially those that they are not expert in.
  11. You may have multi skills in a field but having more hands deliver or execute those skills will save more time. For instant if you are a good house builder who knows all the required skills to build a house from carpentering works to molding of blocks, instead of doing all this yourself you can hire other people and then focus on one, this will save more time. Highly productive people don’t ask, “How can I do this task?” Instead they ask, “How can this task get done? And most often, "How can this task get done quickly ” they realise the power of specialisation and so they take the “I” out of it as much as they can. They only look for the best possible means to do their task well or achieve their goals and look for the best means to achieve it which may require hiring people or paying to learn new skills or even using the most efficient machine . So instead of doing everything themselves highly successful/productive people focus only on those things they can do exceptionally well and deligate the the rest to those who can do them better. They also make use of better tools and machines that are faster or that produces better results.
  12. They divide days of the week to suit their activities. Highly successful people often theme days of the week to focus on major areas. For many years I’ve used “Mondays to Thursdays for serious work ”, "and weekends for washing". And scheduling meetings for Sundays after service/church. Someone wrote about Jack Dorsey’s work themes, which enable him to run two companies at once. He shares the week in between the two companies. Share and divide your work between the week-days to maximize your efficiency and effectiveness.
  13. They touch things just once.It is not only good to begin but to finish, completion give us a sense of satisfaction. Instead of doing their work halfway and jumping to another, ultra-productive people engage on a task and make sure it gets done. Being a finisher is an attribute of a productive person. There's no better road to frustration than the knowledge that you don't finish what you began. What's the point in starting it in the first place when you know you are not going to finish it. So when next you engage in a task, by all means finish it. Another obnoxious distraction that the modern world brought is the mobile notification apps, so I prefer you turn them off, and provide/allocate special time to check you messages, or read your emails.
  14. They practice a consistent morning routine. Action produces results, successful people knows those first activities that prepares them for the day and makes them a habit. Successful people has morning rituals they engage daily, such as exercise, reading motivational books, meditation or prayer. And then starting the day with the best food that suits them best. All you need to do is to work on you self especially on those first hours of the day so that you can be able to face the day with more grip. So instead of sticking to brushing, eating and dressing for work, wake a little more earlier than usual, and then, add a mind building program or activity to your morning routine. It will make your whole day a lot more easier, fun, positive and more importantly, productive.
  15. They maintain constant energy.Without energy, efficiency automatically depreciates. Highly productive people knows this so they try to keep up their energy level. If you are doing work that demands more energy and physical effort you need more calorie intake to keep up energy level for efficiency. Even if your work don't demand much of physical activities you will also need some level of calories to be able to think clearly. I found that I'm able to think clearly when I eat well. Also get hydrated by drinking enough water. Another way to maintain a high level of energy is to have ample rest, provide time to recreate, relax your muscles, sleep and rest. Positive thinking can also be helpful in keeping up your energy level. Too much worry and anxiety can weaken you by increasing stress level.
  16. They seek constant improvement Self improvement has no "finish" in life, highly productive people know this and so they work on themselves and make sure that they are getting better, Bill Gates said it best when he said, "Information has a shelf-life of a Banana". And so is self improvement, it never ends, you need to keep getting better, by learning new skills and acquiring new knowledge to get better at what you do . If you are not getting better in this fast moving world then you are getting worse. Every business is changing at the speed of light, if you don't improve you will soon go out of business. New machines, styles and tools are being developed almost on yearly basis and getting acquainted with them should be your priority , Zig said "don't wish it was easier, wish you were better."
  17. They look for the most important things and work on them. It is not only good to focus on one thing at a time but to focus on the right thing. Highly productive people focus on their most important task and work on it making sure it's complete. Mark Zuckerberg, founder and CEO of Facebook said, "the question I ask myself like almost everyday is what's the most important thing I should be doing right now". The fact is that we have too many things to do and too little time. So you know you have many things to do in a day,instead of trying to do anything that comes your way, look for those important task that you are sure if they are done well will produce the kind of result you want, do those ones and then allocate the remaining time to other less important task. Never forget, "there is a huge line between" being active" and "being productive".
  18. They are passionate people. Highly productive people love what they do, without passion it is very difficult to give your job all the effort it demands, the rule is simple here, "Love what you do or do what you love", look at what Warren Buffett, a very passionate investor said, "I wouldn't mind going to jail if I had three cellmates who played bridge. … The approach and strategies [of bridge and stock investing] are very similar." he loves investment so well that he can do anything similar to investing even if it could be done in a prison. So you got to develop passion for what you do , if not for the fun, then enjoy it for the money. And one should be passionate about anything that pays one.
  19. They often focus on minutes, not hours. There are 1,440 minutes in every day and there is nothing more valuable than time. Money can be lost and be made again, but time spent can never be regained. You must master your minutes to master your life.Average performers default to hours and half-hour blocks on their calendar. Highly successful people know how limited time is and they also know there is nothing more valuable than time. As legendary Olympic gymnast Shannon Miller said in an interview , “To this day, I keep a schedule that is almost minute by minute.” To master your life, you must master your time. So instead of focusing on the fact that their are 24 hours which will create tension on your mind just focus on the other congruent fact that there are 1,440 minutes in each day, and by using them wisely you can achieve a lot.

Final thought... 

Being productive, which means "achieving something"  is different from being "busy".

 So when next you have a task at hand, or even when you start a new day, begin with the end in mind. How will this day end, how will this week, month, year, next ten to twenty years end, then by all means, channel all your energy to those activities that will produce the kind of result you desire.
Remember, "Result is everything," and "it is not how far, but how well".

  When I was writing this post I was learning some new skills and at the cause of it I had the chance to meet new people who come from different background and so with different behaviours, most often their behaviours do hurt me and so often go against what I assumed to be the right thing, but I still choose to remain positive. I have being through many ups and downs which may be similar or different from your circumstances, but the fact is that no matter what you are experiencing, there is always a way out if you can try and be positive. Staying positive will change the way you look at life and will increase your efficiency.

Reasons why you need to practice daily positivity.

  • staying positive gives you a healthier mind. Which can prevent heart disease and heart attack.
  • it helps you concentrate by helping you to do your work well. When you put all your mind in your work, you become more productive.
  • we all wants to be happy, and the best way to achieve happiness is to be more positive.
  • you also win more positive friends, as it is said, birds of the same feathers flock together. And when you associate with more positive people they will make your whole life a lot more easier.
  • it helps you take more good actions. When you are positive, you are more action oriented. You do more things, if you are in sales or meeting customers, positivity helps you close more sales address customers well and be able to do your task with greater joy, excitement and fulfilment.
  • It helps you live longer, many people who die, die as a result of too much worrying and negative emotions such as fear, envy, and have committed suicide did that as a result of guilt or frustrations from their daily existence.
  • Staying positive reduces or removes stress. By becoming more positive, your thoughts remain healthy, and since stress is more psychological than physical, this will help you feel more relaxed and energetic.

Being positive or staying positive is a matter of choice.Frankl the author of "mans search for meaning" was ones confined into a prison, him and other prisoners and were being punished and maltreated with cruelty. And the man said, everything was taken away from them. Except one. And that was simply this,
 "The freedom to choose ones state of mind in any situation."
That choice is always there. Circumstances may take away a lot of physical things from you.

 Life may deny you a lot of good things that others have.
But there is one thing that can never be take away from you, the right to choose your thoughts, mind and reactions to feelings at any point in time. You have to always make that choice yourself. Choose Happiness over sorrow.
 Choose faith and hope over dispiritedness, downheartedness or hopelessness.
  It's all a matter of choice. Some times in life, you face a lot of circumstances that would want to make you run inside and avoid facing life and your daily responsibilities, but no matter what you face in life, you always have a choice to feel miserable or to pick up the remaining part of what is left out of life and continue.
  In some  life situations, you may be forced to act against your will. For instance, when you are angry. You may be forced to speak in manners that ordinarily you wouldn't. It is normal and a human behaviour to act out of control when we are emotional. But this type of emotions must be restrained.
  I have being throughtheir kind of situation where I spoke in a manner that was against my will. And letter I learnt that there was a cause to that. The cause is that, when we get emotional, we tend to most often react from our subconscious mind. If you always say you hate a person or a particular behaviour in peopl,  when you become emotional you always respond to that person based on that your opinion about that behaviour not from the point of respect you always have for the person. That is why we must try, no matter how difficult it is to always try to separate our emotions from facts.

2. Practice positive emotions.

We are emotional creatures. And most often we are identified by the predominant emotions that saturates our mind. Apart from most of our other human features, like physical appearance and looks, the next thing we use in distinguishing ourselves from one another is our predominant emotions. If you are always happy or gloomy, people will Know you with that. As we discussed in the first tip, you have to choose to be positive. So we have to choose powerful emotions and behaviours that can create a happy lifestyle. Examples of positive emotions we can practice to keep us more positive are listed below :
  • Love : love means, wishing people well or even yourself. Try to develop unconditional love for yourself and the major people in your life. Love will help you to be more happy with yourself and with life.
  • Friendship Friendship means sharing close bonds with people you admire their qualities. People who time and distance never separates us from. How do you attract true friends? This is simple, become a true friend yourself. One of my favourite quotations on the basic fundamentals to changing the world comes from Gandhi,and this is what it says "Be the change you wish to see in the world". Be the friend you want to have. We all want to attract into our lives friends and people whose character and lives mirrors our own. You don't have to make yourself into what you think others would find attractive. No matter what your areas of interest, others share then somewhere. Be open minded, but don't ruin your life by accepting everyone as friends. These must be people you admire a lot. Almost in every conceiveable way. As I thought about this, there are very few people I have entered into friendship with, and they are making the difference in my happiness.
  • Loyalty: means being reliable. and one of the ways to practice loyalty is to be impeccably honest with yourself and others. Be honest. Never live a lie. Never do or say anything that is not true. Stop deceiving people. Honest people are always fulfilled because honesty has its own rewards. One thing among many that is bad with lying is that it takes many lies to cover one lie.  When you lie one time you will need to lie another time to cover-up the initial lie. And most often, the truth would be revealed which will leave you embarrassed and frustrated in the end. So, be honest, even if it may not be easy at first. It will be rewarding in the long run. Another way to be dependable is to keep your promises. Don't betray your own words. If you in business, give what your products promises. If you are in a relationship, keep your vows and promises, never break them.
  • courage: this is the ability to act, even in the presence of fear, it is not the absence of fear but the mastery of fear. One of the nicest ways to practice positive emotions and feelings is to overcome your fears. Do something new that is positive and rewarding. It could be asking someone out for a date, starting a new business of your own, starting a conversation with a stranger, starting and finishing a project,by developing the courage to act, you start feeling good about your self. Never let fear hold you back from taking action or living the kind of life you would have loved to live.
Other positive emotions you can practice are joy, good humor, enthusiasm, peace, serenity, patience, trust, tolerance, prudence, and taking responsibility. By practicing positive habits and emotions it will not only help you build a positive mindset but it will improve every other areas of your life.

3. Start looking for the advantages in every negative situation.

Things will naturally happen, and sometimes they don't turn out the way we wish they should,and most often we are tempted to start complaining and taking negative conclusions. And that is what most of us do. The best way and the best thing to do is to look for the benefit side of every event in your life, when problems occur, remind yourself that every problem, every setback comes with it an equivalent or even greater seed of advantage. So, instead of killing your self over events that has already happened, try to learn from them. Always make sure you heed the lessons of failure. So, when negative and unexpected events like failures and disappointments comes your way, try to look for ways to learn from it. Here are a few questions I use to ask my self in negative situations :
  1. What is one or more things that is positive or good about this situation?
  2. What is one opportunity within this situation?
This is my present way of handling negative situations unlike before- I use to complain and criticise my self for being so silly and failure or start focusing on the difficulties. Instead of throwing judgement on my good self I take time to relax and think of how I can benefit from the situation.
 For instance, when a cave that holds the treasure you seek is covered with a big stone_ instead of complaining, you can can begin by scratching the sand beneath the stone and with time, the stone will give way. Every problem you face has a soft side you can tackle. But one thing you realise is that it is not easy to start behaving in these manners, looking for silver lining in a dark cloud when you are blinded emotionally by  anger or grief. Just provide time to think things through when you are less emotional.

4. Choose and live in a positive environment.

"You can't make positive choices for the rest of your life without an environment that makes those choices easy, natural, and enjoyable.”

One notable truth about environment is that corrupt environment corrupts an individual absolutely, if you always stay in an environment where happiness is not cultivated, you will often see that your level of happiness and positivity begins to sag, unless you are too positive in nature. You must choose your environment wisely, and focus on building your home and office so that it will be a place where happiness and harmony abounds. This is your life, and the fact is that it is too short to live it in way that is not worth living.
  Do you often go to places where you do not enjoy? 
and have examined your self and you are not the cause of the lack of flavour and enjoyment in that environment, and you are sure quiting such an environment won't have any significant impact in your life, it's time to quit , change such environment. There are some tough and annoying neighbours that no matter what you do you cannot please them. And most of these people may not be blamed so much because it may be genetic factors or negative upbringing. If you then know that trying to tolerate such neighbours will be an emotional hazard for you, it's better to change apartment.

Another important way to regulate you environment to be more positive is to control the information that enters your mind.

 The type of movies TV's shows and series you create time for. The information that your mind receives during the day do have a big impact on your mood throughout the day. One other way to build a positive emotion through your environment is to live in environment where natural things like trees and flowers grow. Most time you can pause, smell the roses, touch the flowers and feel them simply allow nature to flow through you.

5. Focus on what you can do.

when you face negative situations that are had, instead of focusing your mental energy on what you can't control at the moment, look for possible solutions. When you solely focus on what you can't do, this leads to stress, confusion, frustration and and makes you complain. The most positive way of handling life situations is to look for those things we can do about them_ to remedy the situation. If you are in debt, instead of complaining as most people will do. Look for job if you don't have any job , or start saving from your earnings, and clear your debt. Did you fail in business_ look for the next step to take to fall in or fall out_ in whatever seems best for the circumstance , was there an accident,instead of drifting about and around, why not look for first-aid. The list goes on and on. The fact is that no matter what circumstance you may find yourself, there is always something right to do about it , look for it. If on your own level of knowledge that you cannot find a solution, ask for feedback from your A-team members or use the internet and search through google, you will probably find a good answer.

6. Make other people happy by adding values to their lives.

One of the easiest ways to feel positive and good about our self is to create the feeling that we are adding values to other peoples life. It gives us a sense of fulfillment. By helping others achieve the best that is possible within them don't only add value and meaning to their lives but also adds to our own life. But making other people feel happy does not mean you should be a people's pleaser. It doesn't mean you should sacrifice every thing you are and have for others and have none left for your self. It means you have to love your neighbours as you love your self(not above your self). It also mean you should be your brothers keeper. There's one quote I love so much. It says, "you find yourself by giving yourself." and I think there is no other better way you can give your self than through service. Here are  few other ways to create positive life for your self through making other people happy:
  • Give to charity. Keep special amount, it could come from changes you make from your small purchases, which may not be much but may help keep a heart beating. Knowing that a heart is beating because of your donation will create a positive feeling within you.
  • Give to people in the street. You may not know a charity home. Or have time to visit one. But there are still beggers in our streets. And you can also locate the less fortunate around you and render them some help.
  • Allow other vehicles to cross your own when you are less in a hurry. It is part of doing good. Just imagine that you are going for an important occasion or meeting and you are late and people tend to give you easy passage on your way, I think you will feel happy and fortunate. So, as Mahatma Gandhi said, "be the change you want to see in the world". By so doing, you create the feeling that you have added value to someone else's life and to the world.
  • Occasionally send seasonal sms or text messages and email to your loved ones wishing them well and letting them know how much you love them.
  • Another great way to help people is to start a blog not just to share your ideas, but to help people achieve their potential and solve their problems.

7. Practice good posture.

Having great posture can affect the way you feel about your self. It makes me feel good and more energetic. Sitting or standing on the right posture makes our body function properly. Bad posture causes discomfort. When you slump, so does your spine and this leads to bad circulation of body fluids. This can lead to the deterioration of your vertebrae. A deteriorated vertebrae can lead to fatigue and pain, coupled with poor circulation which eventually leads to exhaustion and these affects us psychologically, our mood, the way we feel about ourselves. The best way to practice good posture is to keep your head straight while sitting and your back straight. Make sure you are comfortable. Put on a comfortable shoe. While standing or walking, use your stomach muscles to control your posture, don't bend your back, hit your heels to the ground as you walk and then roll onto your toes one leg after the other and remember to keep your chin parallel to the ground.

8. Learn to take criticism in a healthy way.

Criticism always puts a person on the defencive. It makes you want to fight back and oppose. It offends your precious pride. So in order to avoid this offence we try to avoid situations where we can be criticised. It creates a fear for criticism. And this fear holds us back from going for what we actually wants in life. Listening to those negatives or defeating words from someone else's mouth makes you want to quit even the most splendid plan and regret even the most significant action you have ever made. But learning how to control or master this fear will cube it to minimal. Here are simple steps to handle criticism that have worked well for me over the years.
  • Really listen to the critic. Some times we tend to be moved by ego that we ignore every form of opposition to our opinion and this causes a lot of problem. When others voice their opinions and they are people you respect try to listen and get their point which may be pointless or helpful. By listening you prove that you are a person of worth and you value them with their opinions.
  • Don't Reply right away Take your time to think things through, I must confess, most criticism puts a person on the defensive and which may make you want to attack the person even if the case don't have to do with getting emotional, then you have to take time to reply the person who have voiced their opinions.

9. Learn to develop self control.

People with self control seems to be happier. You are happy or sad to the degree to which you think you are in control of your own  life. When you know you are at the drivers sit in the vehicle of your own life and that you are directly controlling your own affairs it makes you feel more positive and happier . One of the things that prisoners suffer is not only over labour but intimidation and obstructions from doing their own things. Going to where they want, and achieving the best that is possible with them. So to be more positive, I will suggest you develop self control. Don't always act impulsively. Control your own affairs, as human, we are born to handle affairs. And you will be happy to the degree and extend you are able to express this part of your nature.

How to develop self control:

  • Do straineous exercises. Exercise strengthens themind . the more you engage in exercise the more your  mind is able to produce will-power. And will-power helps you to control your emotions and the way you responds to life situations.
  • Make and keep your decision. People with self control makes and keep their decisions. When you say you want to loose some pounds you need to decide the amount of exercise it will take you to get to the weight you desire,and then avoid eating too much. Another little tip on making and keeping your decision is to take time before making any important decision. The more time you take on making major decision in your life the less you are likely to make mistakes.

10. Learn to face your problems and stop putting them off.

The more you put your problems off for some-day, the more they tend to compound and multiply. You keep saying some-day I will do this or that, I will start facing this problem, but the problem with this negative syndrome of 'someday' is that it never comes. The truth with problems is that when we confront our problems they disappear. We gain strength and confidence when we pick courage to face our problems, they thereby make us stronger. A man whose roof is leaking should not wait until the whole house falls to the ground and neither should a man whose house is on fire go to bed for sleep. You may say that the problem is not too much but you should also remember that a small leak can sink a great ship. Those small problems you always tend to neglect with time will heap up to a big problem and will in turn hack away at your happiness, effectiveness and overall positiveness.

Are you busy with your career and your relationship is a mess, are you busy clubbing while you have books to read? The truth is that it will affect your overall life performance and energy level with time. So when a problem comes up, stop keeping it for the future. Take every possible step it demands to dissolve it. The truth and the most rewarding aspect of facing our problems is the strength and esteem that comes with it. Here are a few tips on facing our daily lives problem
  • Write your problem on a piece of paper. Whatever you are going through, all of it. I do this one a lot. When you write it down, it becomes clear and less a burden, they are no longer on your shoulders or in your mind as worries but on a piece of paper.
  • Compare the problem with your past experiences and check if you have had similar experience. What worked initially? What did not work? Then follow accordingly.
  • Check around your friends and family or area. Search for people who have solved similar or the same problem. Ask them what they did differently that got them better result, then learn from them.
  • Ask me. The truth is that I am not perfect but I have experienced a lot. And if I can't provide direct answer, I will look for better means to help you.
  • Ask Google or online forums . A lot of bloggers are out there to help you with your problems, by simply asking or typing in your questions, a lot of answers will be provided and you can pick helpful ones that will help you solve your problem.

11. Start your day in a positive way.

One of the nicest way to enjoy a day full of positivity is to start your day well. Choose activities that are inspiring and focus on them. Mind the type of information you allow into your mind in the morning a sad news will keep you sad all day long unless you are too positive. Information builds the mind just as exercise strengthens the mind. By filling your mind with nice and rich information, you perform well at work and are able to face life situations with better poise and confidence. Read helpful and motivational books and listen to positive podcasts and MP3's. Another way to start your day is to eat healthy nutritious food. By eating good  protein and carbohydrate food we tend to perform well. Another positive way to start your day is to review your monthly and yearly goals. Play your favorite music and if you are religious person, fill your day with prayer. This prayer process works a lot in making me feel positive. Pray deep and long prayers into your deepest fears, worries, doubts and needs. When you know and believe that a hand more powerful than yours, the hand of God is working on your affairs, you tend to be more relaxed and focused on what you can do and this makes you feel more positive along your day.

12. Improve your self esteem.

People with good self esteem tend to be more positive. After all positive Esteem has to do with how you feel about your self. By feeling good about your self, by improving your self image you are more positive and are able to face life's situation squaringly. One of the best ways to improve your self esteem is to stop comparing your self with other people and always realise that you are not your circumstances you are rather your opportunities and since we are all born with equal but dissimilar opportunities, we are unlimited. If you can't do well in football, you can do well in music or some order thing. With varied talents in all of us you realise that our possibilities are limitless so there's no single need to feel inferior. Do you think you are ugly, that's not ugliness,it is the universe trying to fulfill a purpose. So in other words, you are beautiful and perfect for your own purpose.

I grew up thinking maybe to be a super star in Hollywood or Nollywood you must be a tall and handsome or beautiful person or at least above average until I watched the movie Lord Of The Rings, the major Characters, Frodo, Sam, and their two other friends were all shorter guys, not that they were kids but they were the exact characters required for the movie. So you don't need to be envious of anyone or feel inferior to anybody because you are the exact character required for your own destiny, and never forget that what you create with what you have, becomes your destiny.

13. Take it easy, slow down.

great haste makes great waste. By slowing down your pace and moving slower, you tend to make less mistakes. Mistakes will make you feel frustrated at the end of the day and this will affect your rate of positivity. Be patient while talking or replying. Take time to think things through replying when you are tensed up or emotional will make you use words that you will later regret.

 Too much of speed will distort accuracy and efficiency.

When you know that you are a person who give accurate and effective results it makes you feel more positive about your self. As for me, I know I have a lot of goals and lot more to do in a day that 24-hours can't be enough but I manage to slow down with this one truth in mind,
 if I'm able to do all my task with haste and finish them but fails to do them well it would have been better I did few and did them well

because completion of task gives us a sense of mastery, especially when we did those task well, it also boost our Self_esteem. So slow down. One step at a time. One way I practice slowing down is when I'm eating instead of rushing down on meal as before, I take it one bite at a time since it takes our brain about 20-minutes to understand and signal that we aresatisfied, slowing down will aid quick digestion and you will eat lesser. Another way to slow down is to take time to confirm your work when you think you are done. This will assure excellent, nothing gives me a feeling of happiness than the knowledge of the fact that I am a person who does things well.

14. Keep your mind free from guilt and fear.

Guilt and fear weakens us, it inhibits action and cripples productivity. When you live every minute of your life on the fear of what may or may not happen, you tend to be tensed up and cut off from reality and not just that you are cut of from reality but that you begin to live on the negative side of your imagination. Another factor in this section is guilt. A feeling that you have done something wrong. To keep guilt and fear away you must act as your conscious dictates, focus more on action. Inaction cultivates fear and action breeds confidence. Instead of focusing on your problems and things you cannot control, focus more on positive productive actions. Another way to keep fear and guilt away is to always do the right thing. Practice unalloyed integrity. Be a good person.

15. Learn to develop faith and stay on the lookout for miracles everyday.

Faith and hope displaces fear, doubt and all forms of negativity. The more faith you have in the unseen future and the more believes you develop on your talents and abilities the more positive you become and are able to face life's challenges boldly. Having hope and faith that things will work out well in the future does not mean we should focus on the future and neglect doing our work well or facing our responsibilities but means we should work in the present moment and hope in the future. Looking up to the future while living in the present moment makes us more positive.

16. Change unhealthy self talk.

Happier people have a positive opinion of themselves, they may not be successful or even the best but they speak to themselves in a positive way. They don't talk themselves down. When negative thoughts comes into your mind, try to voice a positive thought against it. When you repeat this act severally, it will become a habit. So your predominant thought will be more positive and you become a more positive individual. One thing with negative thoughts is that when you don't oppose them they become saved in your subconscious mind. Your subconscious mind which is like the internal hard drive of your mind will accept any regular thought that passes through your mind as truth and will compare your brain to act on it.

17. Be grateful.

Gratitude unlocks the beauty and the blessings of life. And this is so true. It makes you aware of the things you have which place you on a better ground towards attaining what you can achieve . Being grateful is another way of creating your own happiness and positive emotions. Celebrate the blessings of life while going after those that are yet to come. Here are few ways I practice gratitude: I begin by listing what I have in my life that I am grateful for and I also list those things that are working in my life.
  • I am healthy and don't have to live on drugs (even if you live on drugs, you should be happy that the medicine to your illness is available.)
  • I have a roof over my head, a home where I sleep.
  • I have eyes to read and mind to understand.
  • I have food to eat and clean water to quench my taste.

18. Maintain Constant energy.

One of the things you need to stay and feel positive is to have constant energy. Being able to do your work well and think clearly. No matter how much machines the modern world have to offer us we still have our own contribution of works to do, even if you don't have much physical work to do, you may have a mental work to execute which requires energy. And when you lack this vital tool, you tend to feel down and your performance goes low. To be more positive at work and in your daily life you need a constant supply of energy. There are three requirements for constant energy.
  • Eating healthy nutritious meal every day will help you perform effectively. I realise that anytime I eat well, but not too much it helps me think well and clearly and even focus and do my work well. 
  • Also try to get hydrated. Drink enough water. The saying that water is life is so true. When you drink water it fills you with life and vitality. Have you been longing for water in hot summer day and you take a glass of cold water, do you see how it feels. How rejuvenating it is. It shows you that water gives energy.
  • Exercise is another way to keep up energy. When you exercise, your body releases endorphins that makes you feel good.
  • Provide time to rest. When you rest and sleep your body produces new cells to replace old ones. And this helps your energy level.

19. Be proactive and protect yourself from negative people and situations.

Reactive people are usually affected by their environment to the extent that if they are good they feel good, and if they are not they won't feel any good. And some people will ague that this is just natural. And you may be wondering if there is anything wrong with being natural. But we are human being, gifted with wisdom to clothe ourselves when we feel cold, bath ourselves when we feel dirty and protect our emotions by channeling then to what we desires. Proactive people produce their own response through decision and not by natural inclination. We always have that power to choose and to stay Positive you must yield that power. As Viktor E. Frankl, the author of "Man's Search For Meaning " said, “ Everything can be taken from a man but one thing: the last of the human freedoms-- to choose one’s attitude in any given set of circumstances, to choose one’s own way." positive people are proactive, they are value driven people. They decide their attitude at any time.


loosen up those facial muscles and just smile. It is said we use more muscles to frown than to smile, so to even reduce stress we need to smile often. One sexy and beautiful way to engage smiling is to practice it in the mirror. It don't only make you feel good just in the front of mirror but it also increase your self esteem. Smiling even when you are not too happy will make you stronger and more resistant to injurious thought and negative feedback from your environment.

22.Meditate for few minutes.

meditation is a good way to feel more comfortable and positive as well. Research shows that it improves emotional and cardiovascular health. It also reduces other illnesses. The best and easiest way to get started with meditation is to begin with 2 minutes on the first day and then you can increase it to more minutes with time. It have been proved that having daily meditation for three months can have good improvement in your mode and happiness. What I do is to pick a subject and focus only on thinking very deeply about it. Or focus on an object for some minutes uninterrupted. It is very simple but the impact is amazing. It makes you more can and improves the ability to listen well.

23. Be in the present moment.

Being in the present moment is essential to being positive. But most often we are being tempted to drift  away  to  the fear of the future and most often to fear and guilt of the past. Our life is wasted each moment we tend to focus on our unnecessary past or on the doubts of tomorrow.
Always make sure you are living in the present moment fully and tensely. Noticing, feeling the smells, the sounds, and the colours within your present environment. Another way to be in the present moment is to focus solely on the activities going on or listen and focus on your breathing. Take time to savour, feel the flowers, touch them if you can.

But you don't just have to believe, you need to get informed and work on your personality.

Business is not something you just begin and start excelling on the first site. It takes character and strong personality to achieve great success in business.
Here are 15 timeless tips that can catapult you to a lasting success in any business under the sun.

1. Begin and you will have enough tool as you go.

Do something.
 Most time the fear of starting holds many people down,

 they don't know what may happen if they venture out.

 But life is a daring adventure or nothing else. Almost all entrepreneurs who have succeeded where still facing the same fears and self doubt you are facing

but they decided to act.

So stop waiting to start your business or to bring that idea in your mind to life.

You may be waiting for the time to be right, to have all the necessary tools at your disposal, but the truth is that, the time will never be right. There's no time you will have enough. So begin,begin now.

2. Be passionate:

passion is an essential quality I identified in my life that has helped me continue even when the going gets tough.

Passion is interest mixed with love. It is enthusiasm missed with faith.

It is simply a strong interest in something you love . To be really successful in doing anything , you must love it, because you can't do it for a sustained period of time if you don't love it, you will eventually giveup.

 Most of the successful entrepreneurs I have been privileged to work with are all passionate people. They interestingly love what they do. And passion has its own reward, which is success.

 I will advise you, if you don't love what you do, look for other things, and do. Only do works that drives you. Works that wakes you up in the morning and keep you working until late evenings and most often into the night at your own will without exhausting, stressing or frustrating you.

 Here are ways you can develop passion if you don't have it for what you do and you are not ready to quite the job :
  • Make friends with your colleagues or member of staff. By so doing, you are not only going to work to stress yourself out but to stay and mingle with people you sincerely love and care about. This kind  of lifestyle will make you love to go out from home to work every single day.
  • Take your hubby to work. That's one of the best way to make fun out of work, by taking your hubby to work. For instance, if you are a music lover , and most of us loves music, why not go to the nearest store and purchase a good earphone or buy  a portable MP3 player to listen to your favorite music. And if you are a game lover you can try and map out 10 to 15 minutes eat day to play your favourite game on your smartphone or laptop, if you a food lover you can prepare or purchase before hand, your favourite meal and take them to work.
  • Set goals that will motivate you to love your work which is your source of income. For instance, let's say you wanna get married, build your own private home or take care of your children, then set that as a goal and let it be a motivating factor which propels you to give your best at your work.
The more passionate you are in any station in life, the more persistent you remain even in the presence of adversity.

So the bottom line is simple, do what you love or love what what you do. In both ways, let there be love for what you work on because your work should take a major aspect of your life and that's the only way to do a great work.

As I said before, you must be passionate. Do it because you enjoy the business or because you want to create employment or build something for the world. Money shouldn't be your primary focus, although the major reason why we go into business is to make money. But if you solely focus on making money you might miss out on other important things like building customers and building popularity which will be the chief source of money. Focus on building an empire of greatness not an empire of wealth.

I will explain,
 an empire of wealth is something that generates you money which could be temporary for those little while but an empire of greatness goes with time and legacy. If you only play for the money then you may consume all your income without reinvesting them back into the business. The only way a business expands like a circle is that you put back part of your profits into the business

4. Hire people when your business starts growing.

You Just started your business and customers are pouring in and you don't even have enough ability to serve your customers because they are too large for one person, then, it's time to hire other people. And by hiring people it will help you increase your number of customer service and that means more money for you.

But while hiring people, you must see to the fact that they have characters worth keeping. Good people equals good management, Here are three attributes you must look for while hiring people according to Warren Buffett, the chairman and CEO of Berkshire Hathaway:
  • Intelligence check there intellectual ability and there ability to coup with other people.
  • Energy When hiring people,also check there energy level, there ability to coup with stress.
  • Integrity a person may have enough energy and intelligence but if they don't have integrity which is personal honesty and good character, then if you hire such a person without integrity, they will brake your empire down.

5. Stay focused

Even when you are succeeding, most often you may be tempted to relax and enjoy your had earned comfort and there's very few things wrong with that, But you should also remember that your business is you own game, if you relax it will most likely relax and most often will collapse .

Don't settle don't get distracted .

Just know your business goal and keep going after them, even when you meet them, you set more bigger and larger attainable goal. Great business men and women don't relax to enjoy a hard earned wealth because they didn't start the business just for the money but also because they are passionate and goal oriented, so even when they meet their current expectations or goals, they reach out for bigger and better goals.

6. Be detailed enough.

When I started running my first business, one of the best advice I received comes from one of my mentors who told me to record everything on paper and that helped me a lot. So all you need to do is to buy a notebook for recording everything. Record both your expenses and profits. Make plans on paper. Highly effective people I have known and worked with, my own self inclusive, I don't play with this, I always have pen and paper handy to record both my ideas and business reports.

7. Maintain your momentum

Retrain regularly, acquire more better skills in your field. By constantly improving your skills, learning better and easier means to serve your customers, this single attribute makes you the people's choice. Try to get better at what you do.

 I ones read a post at business insider on the research made on majority of the world Billionaires and business leaders, it shows that they learn continuously and improve their skill to get better than  their competitors.

 A business man is like a warrior.

Warriors retrain regularly to be fit for battle, when you don't train your  muscles and skills grow weaker. The same goes with business, if you don't retrain and improve, your idea and performance muscles goes low.

8. Play a " back to sender" game.

Return almost everything you make from the business back to the business. as Bill Gates said in one wiki quote article that instead of flying jets around the world with the executives, all he did was to return all the money back to the company. The business have to keep moving.

Business is something that grows it expands with time if well managed . It grows and you will need more money to feed a growing thing. So instead of using your money for problem solving or for pleasure, return all the money back to the business or company. Buy more goods and expand to more branches if necessary.

9. Work hard and longer hours everyday.

Hard work is one of the most important ingredients on business success. All successful people work hard and long enough.. Just aim at working 12 to 15 hours everyday. The harder you work in business the luckier you get and the more you create better chances of success for your self and your organisation. Even if you are working for someone else, work hard, if you work hard it will place you on better chances of being promoted faster.

10. Work smart.

You may work hard but working hard may not be all you need, but working hard and smart.

Working smart means working on the right thing at the right time, and been at the right place at the right time.

To work smart you need to be doing the right thing at the right time, always ask this question that Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook always ask himself,

 "What is the most important thing I should be doing right now."

 then when you ask that question, go ahead and identify your most important task and do it. Remember, the world don't just rewards your efforts but the fruit and the result of your labour. What you are able to produce is what the world care about.

11. Play with a competitive advantage.

Look around you and search for people who are doing well than you then learn what they do differently from you and then do it and add it to your own business skill. And then, also check for what you are doing better than them and capitalise on making that better. Always look for grounds where your products and services will be better than that of your competitors that is one of the best ways to keep your head up in business.

12. Don't be afraid to fire people.

When you have employees who aren't productive and who don't show any sign of improving, then fire them by replacing them with people who will work happily for you. If they are not happy working for you, then they should look for somewhere else. And do everything reasonable to retain loyal workers. When your staff member can no longer be reliable or are no longer productive, the best thing is to dismiss them and save your organisation from falling. Don't let anyone ruin what you have worked hard to build.

13. Give it everything, especially your time.

Concentration is the ultimate strength in achieving anything worthwhile.

Putting all your eggs (energy, resources and time.) in one basket(at a business) and then watch them carefully. This is your business, it demands your whole time, energy and attention. Lack of attention will kill your organisation, Give it everything you have, in fact instead of trying to steal out time for friends, hire that friend and let them work for you. link all your friends to your organisation either as customers or workers, that's what Bill Gates did at Microsoft.

14. Communicate effectively:

Majority of the successful people I have worked with are good communicators. And it is a well know fact that communicators are leaders in every field. Here are 2 keys to effective communication :
  1. listen effectively. Listen with all you senses. With your eyes and ears open and alert.
  2. Speak clearly. You most not shout but you need to speak clearly to the hearing of everyone involved.

    15. Be frugal in all things:

    Too much unnecessary spending can lead to the down fall of a business. Manage everything carefully, control how stuffs like electricity and fuel and other thing are being used. And even mind how much you take away from the business. In otherways, don't lose money. Make sure that every money that leaves the business, returns to the business or is been used for the business. 

    16. Do something exceptional for your users.

    The users of your products or services are the source of your  income,when it comes to business, customers are everything. In fact they are the real boss. They can fire you or your business or company buy deciding to buy somewhere else, serve them well or else you will find them buying from others  and not you. Try as much as you can to provide them with the cheapest and best quality service or product at a great speed.

    17. Remember you can't do everything by yourself, seek for experts.

    Trying to do everything alone will be time consuming and remember in business, time is money. So instead of trying to do it all your self, hire experts and focus on your strengths . Life is just like that, no one has all the answers and no one should and if everyone has the answers no would be coming to your shop either. So don't try to prove that law of nature wrong by trying to do it all yourself, do the ones you have the time and effort to do and delegate the rest to people who can do them well. Remember, when everyone is giving there best and what is required, Success takes care of itself.

    18. Work on your self_esteem and confidence:

    Believe in yourself, have faith in yourself. Without a humble but reasonable confidence in yourself you can never be happy or successful in business. See yourself as a person who is born to handle affairs, see yourself as a person who is limitless at all measure. All men and women of great achievements are those who believe in themselves and their ability to change the world. So start believing in yourself and one of the best ways to start building self confidence and start believing in your self is by taking action. Always try to take positive action when you have new ideas.

    19. Take excellent care of your emotional and physical health.

    Health is another great but not often mentioned ingredient of success. To be successful in business you need some level of physical and emotional health. Here are few ways to maintain your health.
    1. try to exercise 30 to 60 minutes daily.
    2. eat healthy nutritious meal. Eat vegetables, eggs and enough fruits at appropriate portion.
    3. have time to sleep, 6 to 7 hours of sleep daily.

    20.Be honest.

    Honesty is a quality you don't expect from cheap people. And if you are ready to build a business empire that will make you rich,you need to be honest to the core. Give people what you and your products or services promises and they will trust you and keep coming to you.  The hardest time to be honest is when it is needed the most and that is in a business situation. Try to tell people the truth. When you tell customers the truth they will trust you. Remember, when people trust you, they buy from you.

    21. Be a problem solver:

    Make sure customers leave with a solved problem. Think of what the customer want and then give it to them. Remember, everyone who comes to your shop wants their problems solved, so give that to them and they will keep coming.

    22. Advertise verbally and nonverbal:

    Advertisement is one of the best way to increase sales and double or triple the number of customers. You need to advertise your product and services through your customers, friends and family. Other great ways to run adverts is through the media and the internet.

    23. Take calculated risks.

    In businesses today there are many opportunities to succeed, and those who will succeed are those who will take advantage of these opportunities. Many times you need to risk your money and other people's money as well. When ever it's possible, legal and reasonable , you must try to get the resources for your business.

    24. Be courageous and learn from failure.

    Courage is the ability to act even in the presence of uncertainty. Most often, almost every business as a body experiences set backs but you have to keep pressing on you have keep moving forward, you need to persist even when the going gets tough. Don't be afraid to fail, never let the fear of failure hold you back. Act when you have new ideas. Always do something but as you act, always act with wisdom. 

    25. Have patience in your expectations.

    Yes. I know you have a lot of expectations from your business. You want to see more profits, watch your business grow to another better level, live in a comfortable home, drive a good car, raise your kids, buy a private jet, and lots more. All those things are possible, but you need to be patient. Patients is an important attribute in business success.

    26. Save from your earnings

    If you cannot save money, then the seeds of greatness are not in you. As you run your business, you need a reserved cash you can call upon at your command when you need it. Such cash can only be obtained by savings , putting out a particular amount of money from what you earn in the bank. Make it a habit to save a particular percent from all you make. Remember, a part of all you make is yours to keep. 

    27. Dream big and aim to go global.

    With time your business begins to grow and expand. It's time to take it to other level. Expand it by opening other branches in other part of your country and with time you can take it to other countries.

    28. Be a general, a real leader.

    Generals motivate their soldiers. Try to be an inspiration to your staff members. Live by example and make your working environment a nice place to be. Create occasional training sessions for your workers and make sure they are growing personally. Also try to pay them well so that they can be able to give you their best.

    29. Offer what people want to buy, not just what you want to sell.

    Most time it's good to venture into new unexplored field but you must make sure your field of choice must be serving humanity to the extent that it will be a huge success. So when you have decided to do a business, start it base on the current need of the society. In so doing, you will meet with success in an uncommon hour.

    30. Persist

    Persistence is another awesome factor in business success. As with all matter of life you must face set backs. Failures and frustration must come to test your strength all you need to do is to remain faithful and committed to your purpose, your goal, the major thing that drives you. Most especially in this our modern world where everyone is going into business, the competition will be too much and most time you will be tempted to quit but all you need is to learn how to adapt to the system of your business, because survival don't always go to the strongest animal, but the animal that learns to adapt to its environment. The same rule holds for business. In fact when others are going out that's when you should be going in unless the product or services you sale are no longer in use then look for similar products that captives your mind and trade on it.


    I will like to let you know that there are no mysteries in business or in life, all you need is the right information that are required for each field as the saying goes, my people parish for the lack of wisdom.

    Get enough preparation as is required, by getting capital, armed with the best strategies as the ones I have given you, you will definitely cut the time it would have taken you to learn all these lessons yourself. So all you need is to venture in and succeed. Just work hard and keep your aim upward.

How to Take Action When You Have New Ideas: How to stop Procrastination.

Do you have an idea? An ideal idea that keeps coming into your head and most often you keep putting it or them aside but they often refuse to go away, then read on, this post is for you, it will help you bring that idea to use and to reality.
An idea is something on the imaginary level, somewhat abstract, or an improvement on an existing thing. Victor Hugo, a French Poet said, "There is one thing more powerful than all the armies in the world and that is an idea whose time has come." You may have heard about the old saying,

success favours the bold. If you can be able to make that bold initial step which keeps most people from attaining the success and obtaining the fortune they are destined to attain.
We tend to miss a lot in life because of a lot of things.
Most often it's due to the fear of failing or been laughed at when we fail and sometimes it's because we fear criticism from those we may respect.
  But you can't continue to remain on the ground because you afraid to fall if you eventually climb the hill.
  Twenty years from now, you will regret those things you didn't do than the ones you do.
So dear, what's keeping you from making that dream a reality.

That idea that's hiding in the recesses of your imagination. That seems as though they are impossible but something within you tells you it might eventually work out. It's time to take action, make the first move and while you make it remember how babies learn to walk, they are filled with both fear and excitement, enthusiasm drives their mind. And I'm sure that's how you feel.

You feel excited but you either lack the wisdom or the courage to move.
Remember courage is the ability to act in the presence of fear. It is the mastery of fear, not the absence of fear . You must take action.
One lesson I would like you to learn from farmers is the way they sow their crops, first they plant and then water before they harvest. Remember, nothing happens until we make the first move. You must sow the seed of action towards whatever ideas you may have.
these Few things that may be preventing you from taking action today and solutions :

1. Lack of capital:

If your idea is bigger than the money you currently have, you can be patient, as Bill Gates, the founder of Microsoft said, "patience is an essential attribute of business success." don't keep your idea outside, keep it in your mind, and the best way to keep something in your mind is to write it down on a book where you can see it so often.

 Then it's time to act. Since you love and believe in your idea. You have to work hard, save money, look for Angel investors who may like your ideas, go to the government, call on family and friends, visit your bank. 

Do whatever is just, to raise the money. It's possible. The best way is to start little with your personal savings.

2. Fear of what people may say if you fail or fear of failure :

You may fail,success is not always guaranteed,

 research shows that most ventures and businesses fail within the first five years. 

But research also shows that majority of those who succeeded are from those who failed. So why are you afraid to fail, what if you eventually succeed? That's the kind of question you should be asking. 

Just say, what if it succeeds.

3. Procrastination:

David Schwartz in his book, "The Magic of Thinking Big, remarked," Now is the magic word of sucess. Tomorrow, next week, later, sometime, someday often as not are synonymous for the failure word, "never. " Putting things off for future will never make you a winner, stop putting your ideas off for an unknown future,

now is the best and only trusted time you have.

 Never be a procrastinator, one who put things off to do them in the future, if it is important, work on it. 

Your ideas will keep remaining ideas if you keep procrastinating,

 one thing with most ideas is that they gets old with time, even if your ideas are timeless, keeping them for the future will kill them, because you may loose interest or get discouraged by things,circumstances or people. But when you take immediate action, every other thing takes care of it self.


4. Fear of starting small:

Everything big started small,

 don't be afraid to start small, in fact Facebook was started by Mark Zuckerberg as a site to connection between Harvard students

 but with time he started dreaming big which laid him to making it global. 

Now the Facebook which started with few people has grown to more than 2billion users worldwide. 

Aliko Dangote started the Dangote group of companies from scratch, sailing commodities, now the company has grown to be the largest company in West Africa. Microsoft, one of the largest software companies in the world was started by two people and now it has lots of employees and has grown large, just start small and see if the idea takes off and if it do, you can then start to dream big and hire more people when it needs more hands.

5. Wrong associates:

You generally become those you associates with most of the time, just make a list of your top two to five friends, you are nothing more nothing less that the sum of all their characters, put together.

Those you associates with, generally influence your life to the extent that if you stop associating with them for a very long time, by changing associates, you automatically become a new different individual.

All the successful people I have been privileged to study show the same characteristics, they work with like minded people, they associates with people who are in harmony with their ideas. Bill Gates worked with his friend Paul Alien to create Microsoft, and when he became the general overseer, he hired Steve Bormer, another friend to work with him,

Mark Zuckerberg also did the same thing,

he also hired his Harvard friends who are also programmers and they worked together to make Facebook what it is today. So when you are ready to take action on your idea, choose associates that are already in the same field and who are in line with your ideas. Work with trustworthy and reliable people. Also hire well.

 Warren Buffet, the Chief Executive Officer at Berkshire said when hiring people he looks for three qualities : integrity, intelligence and high energy,but he also said, if you hire a person with high energy and intelligence without integrity you are dead. So, when working with people, make sure they have good integrity. That their yes mean yes and not the opposite.

It's time to act,

the difference between success and failure in life is action,and you don't just act, you must put in efficient action.

Remember, effective action produces effective result and ineffective action produces ineffective result.

What Is The Most Important THING I should be Doing?

When you ask this question about your every activities, there's one thing you learn. You learn that most of your activities are not essential. So before you engage most of your time consuming activities first ask yourself if they are important enough to consume your time.

Like for me, I do have a constant urge to sleep during the afternoon when I should be busy doing some productive work. But any time I have that urge this question comes up to my mind the next thing I ask my self is if sleep is the most important thing I should be doing for the time being.


but before you can be able to provide a suitable answer to this question of what's important you have to find out what's important first.

You have to have a definite goal that guides your overall activities, so every one of your actions must be directed towards achieving that aim.

Sometimes sleep could be your most important thing if you were busy all night. So all you have to do at any given time is to determine what is your most important task and go to work on it, by so doing, you place your self at the side of angels. Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of facebook said the question he keep asking himself like almost everyday is this: WHAT IS THE MOST IMPORTANT THING I CAN BE DOING NOW. And you can do the same for your self.

5 ways to provide a competent answer to this question.

Set new goals: how do you go about this one, just pick a piece of paper, write out everything you want to achieve in your Life time. It could be building Or buying your own home, cars, a private jet, getting married and traveling to distant lands.

Back your goals with reason :as it is said, goals are fuels in the furnace of achievement. When your goals are supercharged with great reasons , like the reason I want to buy a car is to enjoy my privacy Or the reason I want to build Or buy my own home is to enjoy confort. Any reason that is strong enough will motivate you to take action on your goals.

Take action.This is the main phase , a time to prove who you truly are. When you have finerly chose your goals and have backed it up with the good reasons you come up with, the next thing is to work your plans out. Do everything reasonably possible to achieve your goals.

Check your associates: The truth is that we generally become those we associates with in our daily lives. Our human nature is like chameleon, it reflects the behaviour of those we associates with on our day to day lives. So when you pick your goals, also pick associates, who are already there, and those who are better than you.

Check your environment : you need to also Check your environment, are the things around you helping you to your goals or are they pushing you away from your goals. Sometimes, changing your environment could be the wiser decision. But if the environment is okay , then embrace it.
