10 Characteristics of Unsuccessful People (and how not to one)

One may be droved with the question on why some people are more successful than others even when they reside in the same environment and even engage at the same business.

The truth is that successful people has success habits and unsuccessful people has unsuccessful habits. I read a story that best describe how habits takes hold on our life.

A wealthy man requested an old scholar to wean his son away from his bad habits.  The man took the youth for a stroll through a garden. Stopping suddenly he asked the boy to pull out a tiny plant growing there.
The youth held the plant between his thumb and forefinger and pulled it out. The old man then asked him to pull out a slightly bigger plant. The youth pulled hard and the plant came out, roots and all. “Now pull out that one,” said the old man pointing to a bush. The boy had to use all his strength to pull it out.

“Now take this one out,” said the old man, indicating a guava tree. The youth grasped the trunk and tried to pull it out. But it would not budge. “It’s impossible,” said the boy, panting with the effort.
“So it is with bad habits,” said the sage.

“When they are young it is easy to pull them out but when they take hold they cannot be uprooted.” Don’t wait for Bad Habits to grow in you, drop them while you have control over it else they will gain control over you .and the truth is that we are creatures of habits, every single thing we do, comes as a result of habit.
To start uttering your results you need to change most of your habits, for excellence as we know it, is not an act but a habit. Here are 10 habits that may be keeping you from your goals.

1. Eating too much .

when you eat more than your body need this causes your body to store up fats. For those of us who want to live up to a hundred years, those excess fats can't journey you to a very long life. So when next you are urged to eat more let the words of Benjamin Franklin come to your mind, "to lengthen your life, less your meal.

2.spending more than you earn.

This is one of the reasons why most people remain stagnated in their financial life. They spend everything they earn and a little more besides and if they can even borrow and spend, they will do that. Spending more than you earn is the shortest road to poverty.

For instance, you make $10, 000 monthly and before the month ends you have spent money equal to $10,000s that means you will remain a captive to poverty. Try to have a reserve, no matter how little it may be.

3.not exercising your body .

The truth is that our body grows with use and decays without use. The more exercise you engage at, the more energetic you body becomes

but those of us who don't exercise miss this benefit. So the next time you are too tired to exercise, remind yourself that it will make you stronger and healthier.

4. Lack of savings.

You heard that phrase money saved is money gained, it still comes from Benjamin Franklin. No matter how hard you work and how much you make or earn, what that really matters is how much you are able to save.

5.smoking and alcoholism.

The line that says smokers are liable to die young is from the world health organization. But the twin side of it is that drunks are likely not going to enjoy life either .

6.not reading books.

As it is said, readers are leaders and knowledge is power. The more you read the more powerful you become at whatever field you may find yourself.

7. Rong and unresourceful associates.

Warren Buffett,one of the most successful investors of all time said you need to move together with people who are already where you want to be because you will drift in that direction. Don't associate with negative people who are unresourceful or else you will drift in that direction.

8.carelessness.

Mistakes are normal and human, said Carlos Slim Helu' but make small ones. For me, I will suggest you avoid making anyone. That's why I always suggest you read books, when you read you learn from the lessons other people have learnt from their own mistakes. And then, avoid making it.

9. Negative thinking .

As the Bible said as a man thinks in his heart so is he, is so true because every action of a man is guarded or comes from a thought. So you need to mind your thinking system. Focus all your thoughts on the good things you want and how to get them.

10.aimlessness.

Another bad habit people form is the habit of aimlessness. When you have an aim then your energies could be channelled towards attaining that aim. Not having an aim will make you look like a pilot without a direction, you will land anywhere. How many of these habits are in your life, it's time to make a change.
